MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Parents are encouraged to maintain a continuity of participation for
all sessions of each series, since parenting skills cannot easily be modified
or developed by exposure to single sessions. Parents are also encouraged to
engage in weekly activities with their families so they can practice the materials
and concepts they have discussed.
Series 1 - Strengthening Families and Adolescents Towards Academic Success
8 workshops of two hours each.
The goal of this series is to help parents create a stronger and more supportive relationship with their adolescent child through an increased awareness of their teen's challenges, needs and strengths, as well as the continual development of their own communication, motivation and decision-making skills.
Series 2 - Managing Conflict and Preventing Crisis in the Family
8 workshops of two hours each.
The goal of this series is to help parents understand the underlying causes of conflict and crisis in the family, including the role they play in creating and resolving conflicts with their teens, and the long term effects of unresolved conflict on adolescent behaviors and academic success. Parents will discuss techniques to improve family communication, decision making, and emotional intelligence in order to help their teens create a realistic vision for themselves.
